Hi, I'm Brittany!

Graphic Designer and avid crafter. Having worked as a marketing assistant I fell in love with graphic design and decided I wanted to learn more and get my degree. Two years later and I’m graduating with an Associates of Science in Graphic Design where I’ve learned everything design from branding to websites to UI/UX. Check out my portfolio and see what I can do!

Dual Roles - B-Side Records

In my Brand Identity course, we were tasked with creating a brand for a ‘client’ where they developed a fictional company called B-Side Records, an underground-inspired recording studio focused on indie and emerging artists with a raw, gritty, and authentic aesthetic. My role was to create a full brand identity system reflecting this vision, including a logo featuring a distressed vintage microphone and bold, textured typography to capture a DIY, grunge feel. I also developed versatile logo variations and expanded the brand through signage, merch mockups, and promotional materials using a cohesive palette of deep reds, golds, and navy blues to evoke nostalgia while remaining modern. This project helped me explore brand storytelling through texture, tone, and atmosphere while building a functional identity system for a creative business.

Design for the Designer

For this project, titled Design for the Designer, our task was to create a personal branding logo for a fellow design student, reflecting their aesthetic preferences and professional identity. I was assigned to design a logo for Lydia Gabbard, who expressed a preference for a simple, minimalist style with a natural color palette consisting of deep blues, greens, and earthy browns.

Lydia envisioned a brand mark that was elegant yet understated, with a strong serif “L” serving as the focal point. To enhance this, I incorporated delicate greenery into the letterform, symbolizing growth, creativity, and a connection to nature—elements that resonate with Lydia’s personal and design philosophy. The typography complements the minimal and sophisticated aesthetic, using clean lines and balanced proportions.

Interactive Packaging Design - Novel Bookmarks

For this interactive packaging design project, I developed a series of three bookmark products, each paired with playful, book-inspired packaging that mimics the look of miniature book covers. The concept centers around humor and interactivity, with each package functioning like a “book” that the bookmark slides into and out of, reinforced by pull-tab elements and integrated QR codes for added engagement. I also created a cohesive logo for the product line, Novel Bookmarks, to unify the designs across different themes, including mystery, sci-fi, and romance. Each iteration explores a unique visual style while maintaining a consistent structure, allowing the packaging to feel collectible, functional, and visually engaging while enhancing the overall user experience.

Design Showcase

For this design showcase poster project, I created a promotional piece centered around the theme of “The Creative Process,” highlighting the journey behind each designer’s work. The concept uses torn paper elements and sketch-style thumbnails to visually represent stages of ideation, development, and refinement, reinforcing the behind-the-scenes nature of the showcase. I combined textured typography with a cohesive color palette to create visual interest while maintaining clear hierarchy for event details. The poster is designed to attract prospective employers, as well as family and friends, by showcasing not just final outcomes but the thoughtful process and creativity behind the work on display.

Hoskins Internship

During my internship with Hoskins in the Flat and Hoskins Drug Store, I created product photography and social media content that highlighted their unique retail offerings while developing a strong foundation in visual marketing. I photographed a range of products, from high-end floral arrangements and seasonal décor to handmade custom bows and ribbon, focusing on lighting, composition, and styling to elevate their presentation across digital platforms. In addition to photography, I designed engaging social media graphics, produced short-form video content, and gained hands-on experience managing and updating products through Shopify. This experience allowed me to build a cohesive visual voice for the brands while expanding my skills in content creation, e-commerce, and digital storytelling.

Photography Competition

For this photography project in my Intro to Video, Audio, and Photography course, I completed a comprehensive series of images based on a structured shot list designed to build technical and creative skills. The assignment included portrait/headshot work, high-contrast lighting, architecture/abstract compositions, candid/event photography, rural and urban landscapes, nature/animals, as well as product, fashion, and food photography.

In addition to capturing the images, I refined each photo using editing tools in Camera Raw and Photoshop, enhancing color, exposure, and overall composition. This project challenged me to experiment with lighting, timing, and subject matter while developing versatility behind the camera and strengthening my ability to adapt across different photographic styles and environments.

Brand Refresh - Los Amigos

For this design project, I selected Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant and created a full brand refresh, including a redesigned logo and updated visual identity system. The goal was to modernize the brand while preserving its warm, traditional character. I designed a logo featuring a stylized sombrero with bold, expressive typography to convey authenticity, along with multiple logo variations for versatility across print and digital use. The color palette combines earthy terracotta tones with warm golds to reflect the restaurant’s heritage and inviting atmosphere, resulting in a refreshed identity that feels contemporary while staying true to its roots.

Craft Cafe

The Alpaca Lounge – Craft Cafe was my final project for my Design Basics class, where I developed a fictional business and created its visual identity. Using Illustrator, I designed the logo, InDesign for the business card, and in Photoshop, I crafted social media ads and a website layout. The project required branding materials such as business cards, social media posts, and a webpage. Additionally, I expanded on this concept for my Photoshop class final, where I designed four unique social media posts to enhance the brand’s online presence. This project allowed me to refine my skills in digital design, branding, and marketing aesthetics.

Vinyl & T-Shirt Design

This conceptual vinyl and t-shirt graphic reimagines the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Californication through the vibrant, postmodern lens of legendary designer Deborah Sussman. Drawing inspiration from her signature use of bold color palettes, geometric forms, and playful typography rooted in Los Angeles’ visual culture, the design celebrates both the band’s iconic West Coast sound and Sussman’s exuberant style.

The vinyl sleeve features dynamic layering of southwestern-inspired patterns, stylized clouds, and rhythmic wave motifs, creating a lively, sun-soaked atmosphere. The typography echoes Sussman’s eclectic approach—mixing strong sans-serifs with rounded, modular letterforms arranged in unexpected orientations. The record label and complementary t-shirt continue this visual language, creating a cohesive and energetic branding experience.

Packaging Design - Steeped

For my final project in Design I, I created a complete product packaging system for a fictional tea company called Steeped. The assignment required us to develop a brand concept and design packaging in multiple sizes, focusing on visual hierarchy, clarity, and shelf appeal.

I designed a cohesive packaging line that reflects the calming, natural qualities associated with tea. Each box features clean typography, balanced compositions, and a soothing color palette to differentiate flavors and create a strong brand presence. My design emphasizes simplicity and elegance while still feeling warm and inviting.

This project strengthened my understanding of packaging structure, dielines, and how graphics interact with physical form. Through creating multiple box sizes, I was able to apply consistent branding across different dimensions while maintaining both function and aesthetic appeal.

Toon Me Challenge

For this “Toon Me” challenge in my Design III course, I created a half-portrait illustration that combines a real photograph with a digitally illustrated version of myself. The project focused on strengthening both my drawing abilities and my proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, as I worked to accurately translate facial features, proportions, and expression into a stylized vector format. I used a combination of pen and pencil tool techniques and color layering to achieve clean lines and a cohesive look that aligns with the original image. This assignment allowed me to explore digital illustration while refining my attention to detail, stylization, and technical control within Illustrator.

Call to Action - Rack Card

For this call-to-action rack card project, I designed a two-sided promotional piece for KICKO Knoxville Inner City Kids Outreach focused on encouraging audience engagement through clear and actionable messaging. The front highlights an upcoming Annual Celebration Luncheon, using strong visual hierarchy to present key details such as date, time, location, and RSVP information in an easy-to-follow format. The back reinforces the organization’s purpose and mission while providing additional calls to action, including opportunities to volunteer or donate. I used a cohesive color palette, layered shapes, and balanced typography to guide the viewer’s attention and maintain readability. This project emphasized the importance of combining compelling visuals with clear, informative content to ensure the audience not only understands the message but knows exactly how to respond.

Design for Change Infographic

For this project, I designed an infographic centered on the issue of hunger and food insecurity. My main goal was to communicate key information clearly while using visual hierarchy, color, and layout to guide the viewer through the content.

I structured the infographic into distinct sections definition, facts, causes, effects, and ways to help using bold headers, rounded shapes, and consistent spacing to create an organized flow. The color palette combines deep blues for stability with warm golds and reds to emphasize urgency and human impact. This contrast helps draw attention to important statistics and call-to-action elements.

Typography choices were made for readability and emphasis: a strong serif typeface for headings to create impact, paired with a clean sans-serif for body text. I also incorporated a powerful photo of a child to create emotional connection and balance the text-heavy areas with a compelling visual element.

Process Infographic

For my Adobe Illustrator class, I created a process infographic showcasing the steps to knit a scarf. The objective of this assignment was to visually communicate a step-by-step process in a clear, engaging, and informative way.

The infographic is designed with a clean, easy-to-follow layout that guides the viewer through five key steps.

To enhance clarity, I used illustrations depicting each stage of the knitting process, paired with concise text in bold labels for readability.

This project allowed me to refine my Illustrator skills in vector illustration, composition, and typography while effectively communicating a creative process in a visually appealing format.
